Aunty Flo is an Elder and a traditional owner and proud descendant of the Ghunghanghi People of Yarrabah, North Queensland and traditional affiliation with the Kuku-yelangipeople of Laura/Maytown, Palmer River area and the Gurambilbarra Wulgurukaba people of Magnetic Island and Townsville.
In 1973 Aunty Flo commenced work in the Australian Public Service throughout Australia in a number of different roles before going out on her own to start her consultancy business work on a number of projects as an Elder and Leader. In 2015 Aunty Flo received an OAM - Order of Australia medal for her service to the Indigenous communities of Queensland. Aunty Flo continues to work hard in the communities across Queensland and with many government and non-government organisations to bring about change to the lives and poor living standard of many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A highly respected Elder, mentor and friend to many, Aunty Flo is the Chairperson of Teralba Park Stolen Generations Support Group Inc.
Teralba Park Stolen Generations Support Group Inc is a North West Brisbane based, Indigenous-led group of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people whose aim is to engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders with other Australians in understanding the journey of the Stolen Generations and walking together towards healing.
