Amy Grace Laura Atkins is an award-winning theatre-maker, clown, puppeteer, poet, and event manager based in Te Whanganui-ā-Tara Wellington, New Zealand.

ACTOR & CREATIVE ARTIST

Amy is a New Zealand born actor and creative artist. She’s been described by audiences and reviewers as… “avant-garde,” a “visual feast” and “uncomfortably entertaining.”

With a passion for live art, puppetry, poetry, and theatre Amy makes an array of playful work for young people and adults. Most recently, Amy has been performing comedic live ASMR in comedy shows and at festivals – including Splore Festival – as her alter-ego Letitia Lickkit. Letitia Lickkit is the protagonist of Amy’s award winning satirical comedy RAW! ASMR. The work combines live ASMR, clown, comedic theatre, digital and sound art. Amy has toured RAW! ASMR around NZ and received four awards for the show.

Amy is an alumnus of John Bolton Theatre School, which is where she started learning the art of bouffon, clown, melodrama, and neutral mask. She continues to train clown performance by making clown-centric theatre, teaching clown, and attending workshops. Past clown tutors include Elf Lyons (UK), Fraser Hooper (NZ), Anya Tate-Manning and Tessa Waters (NZ), Thomas LaHood (NZ), Steph Kehoe (AU), Penny Baron (AU), and John Bolton (AU).

Since 2012, Amy has performed children’s theatre and embraces the challenge of connecting with children through performance. Amy has worked with Tall Poppies Collective, Little Dog Barking, Birdlife Productions, and KidzStuff Theatre For Children.

Amy also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre Studies from Massey University and has an Advanced Associate Diploma in the Teaching of Speech and Drama from Speech New Zealand.

EVENT MANAGER & PRODUCER

Amy is an event manager and arts producer. In 2024, she co-produced the inaugural Wellington Puppetry Festival and produced Barbarian Productions’ outdoor show U R BACK. In 2019, Amy graduated from WelTec with a graduate diploma in Event Management and has worked as an arts marketer ever since. Over the last five years, Amy has worked with Manawatū Summer Shakespeare, Circa Theatre, Barbarian Productions, Digital Media Trust, and Motif Poetry.

PUPPETEERING

Amy is a New Zealand born actress and puppeteer. Her work is characterised by control, breath, and a playful instinct. Her puppeteer highlights include working on Pop-Up Workshop’s Michal & Moe web series, performing puppets that sign with Birdlife Productions, making masks for the Royal New Zealand Ballet and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and performing shadow puppetry across China.

CREATIVE WRITING

Amy is a published and award winning slam poet. She was Motif Poetry’s 2023 Anti-Slam winner and in 2022 she was a joint Wellington Poetry Slam champion. Amy has been a feature poet for Sofar Sounds Wellington, Welcome To Nowhere Festival, Tauranga ZineFest, and Poetry In Motion. She’s had poetry published in Poems4Peace and the New Zealand Poetry Society Anthology. Her work is lyrical, political, occasionally comedic, and explores the mundane.

TEACHING

Amy is a drama teacher with nine years experience educating young people. In 2014, Amy completed her Advanced Associate Diploma in the Teaching of Speech and Drama with Speech New Zealand. Amy taught for Tall Poppies Collective for three years in Palmerston North. Over that time she taught a speech and drama syllabus and supported many young people to develop their performance and speaking skills. She’d facilitate theatre workshops for 50+ children; co-write the end of year production; and co-direct the production, which had a cast of 60 children!

Since moving to Wellington in 2018, Amy has been running private workshops at schools and over the school holidays for young people and people with disabilities. Her teaching specialties are clown, movement for theatre, and poetry performance.

POLE DANCING

Amy has been learning the discipline of pole dance since 2020. She trains primarily at Empire Arial Arts in Wellington, New Zealand. In 2024, Amy won the Seductive Succubus award at Rapture Pole Competition. She’s also been a finalist in the inaugural Dynasty Pole Competition, placed third in the NZAPP 2022 Wellington Expert Heats, and won the 2021 NZAPP Wellington Intermediate Heat. Name: Amy Grace Laura

My Role: Artist

Rohe

I was born in Tauranga Moana, raised in Papaioea Palmerston North, and currently live in Pōneke Wellington.

How I got where I am today

Becoming a performing artist was not my childhood dream, as a kid I wanted to be a vet! But I was always in class plays and learnt everyone's lines and would prompt other kids mid-show without shame... eventually in high school I realised performance was my passion and I haven't looked back.

What grounds me?

COOKING! I am an avid narrative cookbook reader and love cooking recipes out of new cookbooks I'm reading. Current favourite bookings are:

The Food of Sichuan by Fuchsia Dunlop
In Bibi's Kitchen by Hawa Hassan with Julia Turshen
Summer Kitchens by Olia Hercules
Paon by Tjok Maya and I Wayan Kresna Yasa

Synopsis

ASMR PARTY is a 60 minute interactive theatrical live ASMR comedy show. It combines YouTube ASMR style, live ASMR, improvisation, clown, and Bluetooth headphone technology into ONE SHOW.

Letitia Lickkit is throwing an ASMR party and YOUR invited. From a gold sequin draped stage Letitia Lickkit, the “Shiny Queen” of YouTube, performs relaxing and hilarious ASMR triggers and sketches on a party theme. ASMR triggers vary show to show, but can include eating cake, unwrapping presents, guessing games, beauty treatments, plucking, snipping, trigger words, role plays, and MORE. Some triggers will even come from audience suggestions. This is comedy especially for ASMR lovers – no trigger shaming around here!

Letitia Lickkit is a real YouTube ASMR Artist and live performer. She’s been described as “seductively quirky… enthralling… and a terrible blend of arousing, disturbing, and riotously hilarious” by audience members.

Letitia Lickkit is performed by award-winning creative artist Amy Grace Laura (mee) from New Zealand. I am the only person currently creating and touring live ASMR shows in Australia and New Zealand. Around the Western world there are only a handful of ASMR Artists performing live shows at all. This work is very niche, very unique, and very rare.

Synopsis

ASMR HOUR is a 60 or 120 minute interactive theatrical live ASMR show.

ASMR – Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response – refers to the scientifically recognised ‘tingling’ sensation some people experience from seeing or hearing certain ‘triggers.’ Triggers are often whispering, the tapping of wood, the crinkling of paper, or attentively executed boring tasks such as preparing vegetables. It’s a phenomenon that has seen millions of videos created for YouTube with billions of views.

What to expect –
The audience enter a golden sparkly world. On stage, from a golden throne, Letitia Lickkit is quietly welcoming people in. On every seat is a pair of headphones. Once the audience find seats – a stool, a cushion, a beanbag, a chair – they put on the headphones and now they can hear Letitia Lickkit clearly! They’ve been transported into the world of Letitia Lickkit.
A surreal swirling space of sound is opened up. Over the hour Letitia Lickkit whispers, crunches corn chips, tells made up bed time stories, performs beauty therapy and medical role plays. She reads unintelligible recipes and soothes the senses. Occasionally she asks for ASMR trigger suggestions. The audience use an app, Eventee, to suggest new triggers or like other requests. Letitia Lickkit performs the requests, everyone listens to the same thing.
But no one has the same experience.

The mood is silly, warm, calm, cheerful, and enthralling.

Note: Kid friendly sessions and/or Relaxed sessions can be scheduled.

Synopsis

Letitia Lickkit is a very serious ASMR Artist from Aotearoa New Zealand. Since 2022, she’s been entertaining audiences with whispered poetry, Doctor Role plays, and unhinged ASMR triggers. Last summer, Letitia Lickkit took her live ASMR experience ASMR BAR! to Splore Festival. Splorers loved her niche ASMR triggers – corn chip crunching, walnut tapping, and whispered cookbook reads. RAW! ASMR was Letitia Lickkit’s first live ASMR theatre show, which toured New Zealand in 2022 and 2023 to critical acclaim.

Letitia Lickkit has a YouTube channel – Letitia Lickkit ASMR – where she shares long form ASMR trigger videos for her adoring subscribers.
