In 2013 the Australian government axed the Cultural and Art’s policy in the making. Now, in 2018, there have been further budget cuts, leaving the arts sector at risk. Likewise, many schools have followed suit and are favouring STEM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) over the creative arts subject. With this is mind, I hope to make the visuals art’s more necessary to schools, government and all members of the wider community.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Queensland College of Art. After finishing my Bachelor, I want to complete my masters in Art’s management so I can combine my passion for the visual arts with the community. This study will allow me to increase public art programs and make them more accessible to the community. Personally, the arts are very important to me. They enable us to have a voice that defies our cultural background, so we can connect, educate, inform and challenges others.

Being a part of the Arts Front 30 Symposium would be a wonderful opportunity for me to connect with likeminded individuals who are all passionate about the same issue. I know that I can’t create the change that I want by myself, however, with the help of other visionaries, leaders and creatives I believe that we can create a future for every Australian, one that is culturally rich.
