Bec Fary (they/them pronouns) is a white (Irish and English descended, with five generations of settler-coloniser family history on this continent) creative audio producer and practice-based researcher living and working on stolen Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung land in so-called Footscray, Australia. 

They are currently a PhD candidate at RMIT, enacting an embodied deep listening methodology through the practice-based research project Local Time: listening temporally to place. A version of Local Time was recently exhibited at Avantwhatever, and Bec is continuing to develop this algorithmic, browser-based, durational listening experience that intersperses longform recordings with perceived sonic microdisturbances and interruptive temporalities. Through acoustic entanglements of human and more-than-human soundings, Bec hopes to unfold complex interrelations between a recordist and a place, and their human and non-human neighbours.

Bec has contributed to various sonic projects across podcast, broadcast and installation. They also meditate on sleep, circadian rhythms and the subconscious through their ongoing audio project SleepTalker, which originated as an independent podcast and until recently was a weekly late-night experimental live broadcast on Melbourne community radio station Triple R.
