Charmaine Councillor

Charmaine Councillor is a talented Noongar language facilitator from Bunbury. Charmaine was a Noongar language teacher at Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School Bunbury. Charmaine has also been involved in teaching Adult classes for the local community of Bunbury. She is studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Languages and Linguistics. Charmaine leads language and song writing workshops for CAN’s project Lullabies, teaching Noongar language through the creation of songs for children.

She is a talented musician and is the singer and guitarist of her band WARANGKA. Charmaine is also an author and artist of five children’s books in both Noongar and English and was a consultant and writer for children’s NITV program Waabiny Time. Her aspirations are to encourage her community to embrace and continue to revive and maintain Noongar Language for future generations.
