Deborah Mills is a doctoral student at The University of Sydney. Her research interests include politics, public policy and cultural democracy. Deborah is co-author of Art and Wellbeing: a Guide (Mills, D. & Brown, P., 2004) published by the Australia Council for the Arts. The Guide is an advocacy document positioning community cultural development practice as a means to both support and transform government wellbeing programs. Under the auspices of The Institute for Creative Health, over a five year period Deborah researched the depth and scope of arts and health practice in Australia and internationally, including peer reviewed evidence of the impact of engagement with creative experiences on individual and community wellbeing. This research helped inform the Standing Council of Health Ministers and all Arts and Cultural Ministers in their consideration and adoption of an Australian national framework for arts and health in 2013.
