Beginning as a playwright, Didem has been developed and produced in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. In 2015, she was a 25 under Melbourne Emerging Writers Festival to Watch. Her plays Vile, The University of Longing,Work in Progress are amongst some of her notable works presented in Australia. Recently her play ARDNA about culture, community and environmental awareness toured to regional schools in Victoria and was presented as part of the Darebin Speakeasy season in 2022. She has been awarded numerous scholarships and grants, which have taken her across the world to participate in writing festivals, conferences and residencies in the US, Turkey, Portugal and the UK.

Didem's writing practice extends into essays and poetry, with her work featuring across many publications such as Currency house Press, The Age and Australian Plays Transform. Didem's first poetry collection, Dis(armed)skin was recently published as a lithograph by Sunshine Editions.
Currently a PhD Candidate at RMIT School of Media and Communications researching 'Presence and Participation' in socially engaged performance making, specifically in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. She is passionate about community and cultural development and innovating approaches to developing live and written narratives with multicultural communities in Australia.

More recently, Didem was a 2021 UN Global Voices Scholar interested in women's rights and violence prevention through education and is currently producing her first feature documentary in partnership with Film Victoria and Documentary Australia titled, Nobody's Daughter.

Didem is also a lecturer in Storytelling and Scriptwriting at RMIT university.
