Born in New Zealand and based in Australia, Grayson Cooke is an interdisciplinary scholar and media artist, Associate Professor of Media in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Southern Cross University. Grayson has presented media art and live audio-visual performance works in Australia and internationally, in major international festivals such as the Japan Media Arts Festival, the WRO Media Art Biennale and the Imagine Science Film Festival in New York. He holds an interdisciplinary PhD from Concordia University in Montreal.

Grayson's work sits at the intersection of art, science and the environment. He works with infrared imaging and satellite data via an ongoing relationship with Geoscience Australia, using the tools and languages of geoscience to bring new perspectives on the human relationship with and impact on the Earth. In other words, he's basically an armchair geoscientist and a geek with a PhD, an infrared camera and a motion-control kit.
