Lann-Levinge

As a Kombumerri man with a passion for music and language development, Lann is deeply immersed in the heart of the coast’s creative arts field. An indigenous multi- instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, director and creative designer Lann records and composes soundscapes in his northern Gold Coast studio. From large scale audio engineering and engaging lighting plots, Lann occupies approximately 260 performances annually.

Lann’s transition over recent years has taken him deeper into First Nations structures, reaping rewards for his community and gifted a more intimate connection of country to him. Lann is increasingly employed to design cultural soundscape, documenting and recording language, creating visual installations and structuring new ways of presenting language-based “welcome to country” through the combination of music, dance and video elements.

Recent opportunities working on country include 2018 Commonwealth Games, Festival 2018 Artist Liaison (collaboration with Alicia Jones), production co-ordination for Mobo festivals and Jarla events (Yugambeh Museum), City of Gold Coast Planning and Advisor, HOTA Naidoc celebration 2019, and Musical Direction for First Nations program at Arts Ablaze 2019 (collaboration with Alicia Jones).

“I’m loving the journey and path that I’m on, discovering new ways to help and develop a new generation of language warriors, creating awareness of and connecting the Yugambeh Language to everyone through music, dance and visual art.”

Lann seems to be popping up everywhere with works in design, soundscape development, documenting and recording language, creating visual installations and structuring new ways of presenting language based “welcome to country” through the combination of music, dance and video elements.
