Cultural connections to community define my involvement in the arts in the professional capacity of a Secondary Visual Arts Teacher. I balance this with my own contemporary art practice, and voluntary involvement in local groups that aim to build cultural capital through the arts. My career as an arts educator, spanning several decades, has aligned my passion for youth, culture and community.

I have found a balance between, coordinating and teaching Secondary Visual Art in a regional high school and creating my own predominately contemporary work. My work explores personal narratives depicting my connections to place across time as a regional woman, artist, mother and teacher. Local histories and cultural stories contextualise contemporary responses as metaphors of the familiar ground of ‘my place’. My work is informed by gestural mark making and the reduction of iconic elemental shapes and forms to make non-literal representations of experiences and events both past and present.
