Marco Gliori

Marco Gliori was elected as Councillor for SDRC in 2020. Raised and educated in Warwick, the son of an Italian Migrant builder and an Aussie Dairy Farmer’s daughter. Graduated Warwick State High in 1980. Twelve months later commenced a career spanning ten years in the Qld Police Service attaining the rank of Detective Senior Constable. Marco then left to pursue his passion, Performance Poetry. For the next decade Marco toured with both the Qld and Vic Arts Council’s Artists in Education program. For the past thirty years Marco has toured festivals, communities and schools, performing and workshopping his favourite genre, Bush Ballads. This year Marco will be a featured Artist and spoken word co-ordinator at The Gympie Country Music Festival, Winton Outback Festival and Tenterfield Oracles of The Bush. Last year Marco won the Bronze Swagman Award for Bush Verse for his poem ‘Fumbles’. Although Marco has chosen to considerably taper off his touring, he regularly supports, and participates in Southern Downs Arts and Cultural activities.

Scenic Rim Regional Council and SWQ Regional Arts are presenting a series of 11 Arts Dinners in person and online.
