Mathew Clark

Mathew was born in Kalgoorlie and spent his first eight years living in the mining town of

Kambalda, WA. He has been drawing and painting since he was 11 years old,and his

favourite medium is acrylic on canvas. Mathew enjoys painting because it is a way of

showcasing his vivid imagination, portraying certain pictures or story lines which play

around in his head. The main inspiration behind Mathew’s work is from his favourite tv

shows, video games, films and places and buildings that he has visited in his travels.

Mathew has worked under the guidance of artists Paula Weigmink and Peta Zellar over

many years. Completing a Certificate 1 of Art at Central TAFE exposed Mathew to working

with clay and digital art. His most recent art education was through Zoom classes with

artists Kate Leslie and Natalie Scholtz during the Covid -19 isolation weeks.

Mathew has exhibited his paintings multiple times at the annual As We Are Art Award

exhibitions, at numerous DADDA group exhibitions in the early 2000s and he has also had a

couple of exhibitions with fellow artist John Verjans. Mathew would like to develop his

painting skills further so that he can become more well known as an artist with his own

unique style. Mathew also enjoys writing science fiction stories and would love to be able to

publish his stories one day.
