I am an anthropologist of sound and the underwater environment. My research interests focus on how we come to know the environment and the experiences of non-human animals through science, storytelling, and art. I also explore sound art and curate the Listening Post at James Cook University with my colleague Sebastian Lowe. The Listening post explores the intersection of environmental sound art and anthropological practice.

I recently completed my PhD at James Cook University and Aarhus University and I am working on developing a new project around art, science, and communication. I am hoping to explore how the act of listening can generate and communicate new scientific knowledge and affects towards the environments and non-humans.
