Dr Nikki Savvides is an animal studies scholar with a Masters and PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia. Nikki has published her research on horse and street dog welfare in notable journals such as Society & Animals, Humanimalia and the Animal Studies Journal. Her current research projects focus on how more ethical forms of tourism might be used to support welfare and conservation projects in the Global South. Nikki has spent the past decade researching captive elephants in Thailand, and her book on the topic - entitled After The Forests: Thailand’s Captive Elephants and Their People - will be released in 2022.
