
Reingard Spannring is sociologist working at the Institute for Educational Science, University of Innsbruck, Austria. Her main areas of research include critical animal studies, environmental education, sociology of youth, learning theories and philosophy of education, and she is passionate about deconstructing the equestrian paradigm. She has co-edited two books in human animal studies and co-written an introduction to human animal studies in German, in the context of the research hub Human Animal Studies at the University of Innsbruck. Recent peer reviewed articles include “Ecological Citizenship Education and the Consumption of Animal Subjectivity” (in Education Science, 2019, 9(1)) and “Leaving the Meatrix? Transformative Learning and Denialism in the Case of Meat Consumption” (together with Tomaž Grušovnik, in Environmental Education Research, 2019, 25(8)). She also co-edited (together with Tomaž Grušovnik and Karen Lykke Syse) Environmental and Animal Abuse Denial (Lexington, 2020).
