Iwi affiliation
Originally from Mārehia, I am of Sri Lankan and Indian descent.
Rohe
Arriving from Hong Kong in 2001, I chose to become a Kiwi citizen only after 7 years. It took me all that time to realise that Aotearoa is indeed where I was meant to live and work. Over the past 4 years I have been on a journey to learn Te Reo Māori as well as to appreciate Te Ao Māori. The more I learn the more I feel the need to discover and learn more about te whenua where we live.
How I got where I am today
Formerly a music manager for rock bands in Malaysia during the 1990s, I chose to pursue a career in arts management in 2010 which included getting a Masters in Arts Management from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design. My previous careers in journalism and public relations have also been the building blocks that helped shape me into the arts manager that I am today.
Whānau
My theatre whānau and Te Reo Māori akomanga whānau are my people that I rely on to keep me grounded. This is an ever growing group of diverse and talented, creative people that I am proud to call my people.
