Smriti Daniel is a writer, journalist and communication consultant. Embracing multiple formats, including books, video, podcasts and photography, Smriti’s stories explore the intersections of culture, politics, science and development. Her work has been featured in Al Jazeera, Reuters, Motherboard, The Atlantic's CityLab, and The Sunday Times among many other publications.
Smriti has designed and implemented communication campaigns for a number of international development agencies including The World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Save the Children and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). She hosted and conceptualised the shows The F Word and Witnesses to History.
Smriti was a Falling Walls Science Journalism Fellow (Germany), a Gabriel Garcia Márquez Cultural Journalism Fellow (Colombia) and a two-time winner of the Feature Writer of the Year Award (Sri Lanka). She was a TEDx Fellow in 2017 - her talk was titled 'Choose to be Curious.'
