Curator, writer and director.

Iwi affiliation

My background is southern English, Irish and French. Some of ancestors came to work as free settlers in the WA goldfields, others emigrated to Naarm (Melbourne) to escape circumstances in Ireland. I feel honoured to have been born and to live and work in Australia, which always has and always will be Aboriginal land.

Rohe

I was born in Nyoongar country (Western Australia), I have lived and work overseas for about ten years (including in New Plymouth, Taranaki in Aotearoa New Zealand), and am now living and working on Wodi Wodi country in New South Wales, Australia.

How I got where I am today

I studied as a contemporary arts curator but also have an MA in Directing Performance. I now work in an inter- and multi-disciplinary cultural organisation which hosts residencies for artists from around the world.

Whānau

My mother and sister are contemporary artists and my father was a theatre director; these people continue to shape me. My friends and colleagues are artists and creative makers of all kinds. It forms a great mutual support network, I hope for all of us.

Something cool

I recently watched Nomadland, with the lead role played by Frances McDormand. A complex telling of a common story in the United States by the most wonderful actor working in Hollywood today. All hail Frances, we bow down! (Be sure to listen to the podcast Bow Down, by the glorious Jennifer Higgie).

The Performing Arts Network of New Zealand (PANNZ) Arts Market is New Zealand's premiere event for artists, producers, presenters and industry leaders from across the performing arts sector.
