 Taryne LAFFAR AKA PINK PEPPER descends from the Bardi and Jabbir Jabbir peoples of the Dampier Peninsula, W.A. and a diverse global bloodline. In 2006, beginning in the screen industry in the Extras Casting Department on THE CIRCUIT and wrote and directed her short documentary WHO PAINTIN’ DIS WANDJINA? Taryne has worked in the casting departments on numerous feature productions and she produced BINGO! (2010) and RAINFOREST WARRIORZ (2013) and managed and co-produced the I.C.S. in 2014. Taryne has produced six short documentaries for NITV, directing three. Taryne co-writing (with Karla Hart) and co-producing TV series ON COUNTRY KITCHEN in 2016. Taryne received Screenwest’s Spark Yearlong Initiative 2018/2019, recently produced ABC web series KGB (5 x 6 mins), is a 2019 ONES TO WATCH and 2019/2020 Indigenous Producer Program recipient through Screen Australia. Taryne was also recently appointed a three-year sitting on the Screenwest Industry Advisory Group Committee. As Taryne also identifies as queer, she has recently taken up the role with the new Diversity committee for WIFT WA and is a soon to be announced member of Screenwest’s Diversity Committee too. Taryne also recently completed the Screen Australia’s Developing The Developer intensive and was also announced Screen Forever’s SBS First Glance recipient for 2019. Her latest project OUR LAW will be broadcast on NITV in 2020. Pink Pepper’s latest scripted co-production, a feature anthology project RED has also been announced in February 2020.
