As a Brazilian born, Auckland based actress, writer, dancer and producer, my passion for storytelling and theatre has led me to enjoy a performing arts career for over 25 years.

Skin Hunger, my debut as a playwright, is a semi-autobiographical play which had its first season at Basement Theatre during the 2022 Auckland Fringe Festival having a sold out season and receiving several awards including the PANZ Pitching Award.

My most recent screen performance credit is in the Netflix series Surviving Summer. I'm graduate of The Actors Program, and of South Seas Film and TV School I also hold a Master in Creative Writing from AUT and a diploma in Filmmaking from NZFA.

Hot Houz Creative is my baby production company and my dream for it is to become an ideas incubator and a platform for female driven creative projects.

Organisation/Company

Name: Hot Houz Creative

My Role: Creative Director / Executive Producer

Hot Houz Creative is a big dream becoming reality which has emerged from my personal experience - as a middle age woman, mother, widow, foreign, artist in Aotearoa - desiring to tell stories that matters and inspire others but having difficulty finding a platform.

Hot Houz aim is to be an incubator for female driven creative ideas, a supportive community for female writers, producers, directors and actors to explore the artistic potential of their seed ideas and collaborate into make them full bloomed productions.

My main strategic goal is to foster and deliver projects made by women, for women about what matters to women and to encourage and inspire women.

Iwi affiliation

I have no Iwi affiliation by birth, however, through marriage, my Ngā Puhi whānau from Mitimiti has embraced me as one of their own.

Rohe

Santos, São Paulo in Brazil is where i whakapapa from. I lived there until I got head over heels for a very charming Maori boy from Tamaki Makaurau. I said yes to marry him and a few years later found myself standing in this whenua and raising my two beautiful daughters here.

How I got where I am today

I've been a performer since I was eight years old. I worked as a professional dancer within Brazil and in the USA for over twenty years before moving to Aotearoa. After having babies I enrolled at South Seas Film and TV School and then at The Actors' Program. Giving myself the chance of a new start at an older age has been hard, but with my whānau's encouragement - and because creating art is a passion that just won't go away - I've persevered and here I am, still.

Whānau

My husband was my greatest cheer leader, but he passed away in 2017. For a few years since then, I thought everything died with him. But my two daughters, Taimane and Kiana, and my Hotere whānau, have been my source of inspiration and encouragement to keep going and to tell stories that will honour my loved ones who are no longer here.

What grounds me?

Dancing, cooking a meal for my whanau, playing with my dog and spending time with my friends are some of the things that keep me grounded and fill my cup with joy.
