I am an experimental spoken word artist and poet, who has spent the past couple of decades living on islands. Responding to the unique environments these places produce, and working in light, sound, and words, my work is in the hidden and interconnected landscapes. My poems have been exhibited as part of group showings at the Gallery of Modern Art and The Queensland State Library in Brisbane. As a member of Bloom Collective, an interdisciplinary multi art collective, I have performed at Contexts International Ephemeral Arts Festival 2018 in Poland, and collaborated with earth and soil scientists for AIRS residency 2018, Eco Sciences Precinct, Brisbane. My co-collaborators include composers, dancers, and visual artists, for ecological, arts, music, and performance art festivals; and the work produced forms eco-poetic soundscapes and experiments across boundaries of sound, light, and words, in which we are nature. For myself, poetry brings meaning and expression of the invisible and non-ordinary. During the previous decade, I have also spent much of my time mentoring young people in the growing of their own arts practices and community cultural event-making on Minjerribah; and developing and producing community, cultural, and arts-based events, including the Quandamooka Festival, in south east Queensland.
