Bamaga Productions is an Indigenous owned and operated consultancy. 

We focus on celebrating the diversity of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through the presentation of traditional and contemporary art forms. We work with clients from government, business and community sectors to deliver a wide range of interactive programs and events. Our strength is the deep connection we have to communities throughout Queensland and the respectful ways in which we engage with our clients and stakeholders.

Our expertise in developing authentic cultural programs means that our clients have access to some of the best emerging and established Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performers. We can also broker beneficial partnerships with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the reach of your festival or event is extended through sponsorships and allied promotions.

Nancy Bamaga (Founder/CEO)

Nancy has links with Thabu/Samu Clan from Saibai Island in the Torres Strait Islands. Since graduating from Curtin University in 2005, Nancy has become one of Australia’s most highly regarded Indigenous Community Management and Cultural Development practitioners. She has assisted many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and performers to launch careers and business enterprises. As former manager of Queensland Aboriginal Creations for over a decade, Nancy has gained unique insights and developed lasting networks with Indigenous people throughout Queensland. Her ability to consult with communities to develop successful community cultural festivals and arts initiatives is widely regarded by her peers. In recognition of her support for Indigenous Arts, Nancy received an International Womens’ Day Award in 2011 and was nominated for Australian of the Year 2013. 

Nancy as the creative producer, managed the Gathering Program.  It was a Australia’s First Nation Traditional Dance Program in the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane for the Brisbane City Council (BBC).  She was also the annual organiser for BCC’s Black History Month for 6 years. which celebrates Australia’s rich Indigenous History.

Nancy has also worked as the guest curator for community programming with the ground breaking First Nations Festival, Clancestory for the past 2 years and will again present a celebration of the arts and cultural practices of Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders in 2015.
