Violist, Nicole Forsyth loves storytelling through music. She would like to acknowledge the Elders of Cammeraygal, Gadigal & Darug Country where she lives and works.

Nicole co-founded Ironwood in 2006 and is currently Artistic Curator of BachBand@StJames, resident at the historic St James Church King St, Sydney. She was Principal Viola for Pinchgut Opera-Orchestra of the Antipodes 2001-2015, amongst others. Her discography as principal & solo viola includes recordings for ABC Classics, Sony, Tall Poppies & Vexations840.

Nicole’s multi-stranded career features work for Big hART Inc, Moorambilla Voices, Bundanon Trust, Ensemble Offspring, Sydney Childrens’ Choir, most of the HIP companies in Australia, and has collaborated with numerous Australian composers.

Nicole lectures in the Historical Performance Division at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and was Lead String Educator for the ACO Foundations Program at St Marys’ North Public School 2017-2020, as well as for national, regional & western Sydney youth music companies. Her PhD research, in collaboration with Sydney Living Museums, looks at the music collection & performance practices of Rouse Hill House & Farm 1813-1986, on Darug country, north western Sydney.
