Transformational and international arts projects are my passion - currently I am Head of Programming and Creative Learning for children and families at Sydney Opera House. My background includes creating and touring work for young people across Asia, Europe and the USA with Polyglot Theatre, curating talks and ideas for The School of Life in Australia, directing international projects for Australia Council for the Arts, and teaching cultural leadership for UNSW. I trained as a theatre artist in London for my Masters Degree and was a Studio Artist at 200 Gertrude Street in Melbourne. Today I think a lot about how to provide meaningful experiences for young people to develop critical thinking skills and greater empathy.
Rohe
I am from Wurrundjeri land of the banks of the Yarra and now live and work on Gadigal land in Sydney Australia, working next to the Sydney Harbour. Working in the Arts I have lived in a few different places and Sydney was the next destination after having toured the world with Polyglot Theatre.
How I got where I am today
After a brief period as a performer and visual artist I studied my Masters Degree in Theatre Practices in London. Upon returning to Australia I worked at Malthouse Theatre for many years and (3 children later) left to work at Polyglot Theatre. Polyglot Theatre led by the amazing Sue Giles, gave me a good grounding in creating performance with and for children. After this I briefly worked at Australian Centre for the Moving Image, and then up here in Sydney at Australia Council for the Arts as Director of International Projects. Back in the sector I moved into public programs running The School of Life and programming for The Ethics Centre, as well as teaching cultural leadership at University of New South Wales. Then my dream job appeared at Sydney Opera House!
